Either there are cupcakes in heaven, or I'm not goin'.
These beauties are from "Sweet Revenge," the new (and "much more than a") cupcake emporium owned and operated by Andif's niece, Marlo Scott, at 62 Carmine Street, in New York City.
". . .velvety smooth, delicate, and delicious," gushed a reviewer.
I'm sure I'd agree, but I'd have to test them all first, just to be sure.
Congratulations, Marlo, from your aunt's friends at ASMoL!

This is Wednesday's post, but cupcakes wait for no one.
Is Sweet Revenge in the Village, Andi?
Is it quiet all around Blog Village right now? I know I'm not talkative, and you guys don't seem to be, either.
That's okay. It's hard to talk with our mouths full of Red Velvet Cupcake with Butter Cream Icing.
See you in the morning, Cupcakes!
I've been dragging through a sinus headache but, these tasty looking treats look like a cure. Wanna go?
Andi sent me cupcake pictures right before I was leaving my office to meet her for dinner tonight. It was a devious plot to make me even hungrier than I already was.
Unfortunately, cupcakes aren't on the menu of Indian restaurants.
Hi to everyone.
Hi Maryb! I'm sorry about the lack of Cupcakes. Did the curry make up for it?
Hi kb!
The food was good - we had palak paneer (spinich and potatoes) and one of the vegetarian rice dishes. I'm stuffed. I couldn't have eaten a cupcake even ... oh, who am I kidding, of course I could have. :)
ummm. Spinach and potatoes. That sounds great.
And the company even better....
Hi all. Mmm. I'll have to try to get down there. It looks to be worth the 40 mile trip to NYC.
Thanks Nancy! Marlo will certainly appreciate this high quality publicity. :)
It's in the West Village.
Dinner with Mary was yummy and filling but the company was even better and I'm still stuffed from all the fantastic palaver.
Hi kb. Hi b2 (I think the Boran Boy definitely need a trip to a sweet shop). Hi again, Mary.
Sugar rush!
Eh, who am I fooling? The only vviibbrraattiinngg I'll be doing is on the motorcycle as I wave to y'all on the way to work. Maybe cupcakes tonight.
Yes, kb! Actually, we really should go down to Babycakes in the River Market some day. I hear they cure whatever ails ya.
Maryb, no Cupcake Marsala?
Andi, your niece is a cutie!
Hey, b2, you bet it would be worth it, esp. since you'd probably need to pick up at least a dozen.
Far, I am amusing myself imagining you trying to eat a cupcake while riding a motorcycle. Can you say, "icing all over my face"?
Morning, everyone! No cupcakes in Coeur d'Alene - one yummy bakery, but nothing to match these.
A friend from Boston is in town with her new beau tonight, so we're doing the tourist thing. It's been a crazy week - sounds nuts to say I'm looking forward to just packing next week (ugh).
Hope everyone has a stellar day!
(waving)
Good Morning, Andi & Boran & FAR & Beth AND Nancy!
Nancy, I'd love to go to Babycakes whenever you'd like -- that sounds like a fun outing.
Beth, the tourist thing sounds fun to me. But, I missed why you'll be packing. What's up?
Mmmm cupcakes for breakfast, yes please.
I haven't been around much because I've been running nuts with our two new kittens (SO in love with them), Wes & Lucy, and getting ready to go on my first real vacation in 10 years. I am leaving in 4 days to spend a week in Florida to see my baby sister get married.
Hi to everyone, I hope you are all well as can be, as always.
Oh, Jen -- that sounds fun and scary at the same time. (Maybe I just have a fear of weddings though)
When do you leave on your trip? I hope you have a blast!
Thanks, Katiebird! I am leaving this weekend, and I am very nervous both about the long drive (I'll be taking it slow) and about seeing my whole family together for the first time in decades. But I am very excited to see my sisters and the beaches of my home state, whom/which I've been missing terribly.
The past week has been One Big Long Constant Errand, but I finally have a dress and shoes and all of the requisite accoutrements and am now resting for a couple days before I pack and go. Lotsa butterflies in the tummy, heh.
Whoops, hit post too soon. I also meant to ask: how is your retirement coming along? Swimmingly, I hope!
Pretend we're standing all around you patting your shoulder and straightening your train (if necessary.)
Jen, don't forget your umbrella. I hope it all goes well, and you enjoy the good parts about being with family. Give my regards to FL - I miss it, too. Wiggle your toes in the sand for me...
KB, Bill sold his house and bought another one, so we're moving August 4. I'm giving up my apartment (also known as my expensive storage shed, since I'm never there), so we have to figure out logistics of moving my stuff to the new house, his stuff, closing - all on the same day. It's going to be crazy. Anyway, hence - packing. The new place is just a couple of miles down the road - no more big moves for me for a while!
Thanks Beth, and will do. Big congrats on all your recent changes and I hope you two are ecstatically happy in your new home.
Thanks, Jen. It'll be wonderful to have all of my stuff in one place again - I'm looking forward to getting unpacked and settled in (the anal perfectionist part of me is itching to get everything put away, and I haven't even packed anything yet!).
Wow, huge changes in lives! kb's retirement, Beth falling in lurve and moving and finishing her book (Beth, I owe you an email asap.)And Jen with new kitties and off for her first vacation IN TEN YEARS!!
I hope it's all such a pleasure that none of you can stop smiling.
:D
Well, I've decided to stop thinking about it as retirement and to start thinking that I've got a stipend that allows me to work on my projects.
Yikes! I thought I posted this (and more) an hour ago....
I'll catch up with what I meant to say when I get back from my walk.
(confused)
Nancy, it would be more like "eyeffing ah ova meh — AH CRAP I DROPPED IT!!!" and pouting as I watch it tumble & disintegrate on the pavement in the mirror. :-P
Jen, just remember the lyrics to the Wedding March (as taught to me by my Mom):
Here comes the bride,
Big, fat, and wide,
See how she wobbles from side to side…
Now imagine yourself in your finery & TRY to keep a straight face! That oughtta settle your nerves.
Beth, good luck with the tour guide thing & the impending move!
And everyone else… *wave* Back to the grindstone. By the time I'm done, I won't have to worry about sinus problems.
Wow, Far, maybe it's just me but I think that's kinda mean, lol! I won't be fat-bashing any brides on this or on any other trip -- if I need to giggle I'll just picture you trying to eat a cupcake on a rapidly moving motorcycle. ;) Hope things calm down at work soonest so you can relax and enjoy your summer.
Nom, nom, nom.
Mmm, cupcakes.
Jen, have a great vacation.
KB, Nancy, get thee to the cupcakery.
Beth, here's wishing you a happy move.
Far, all you need to do make sure you don't lose the cupcake is put on a full-face helmet, stuff the cupcake inside with you and close the visor...easy, right?
MaryB, palak paneer! I love that stuff. But now I'm regretting that my small town has neither a cupcakery or an Indian restaurant. Maybe I'll run to the Mexican place for lunch and get chorizo.
Boran, hi long time no path-crossing. (waves)
Andi, hi! (waves again)
Nancy and Andi - I'm holding both of you responsible for me going to our local cupcake shop at lunch. Dreamcicle cupcake (vanilla cake with orange buttercream frosting). b2 - never walk into a cupcake shop hungry.
Jen, have a great time on your vacation and enjoy every minute of it. You'll be so busy trying to keep Far's imagery out of your mind that you won't be able to be nervous.
Kelly - not to rub it in but the palak paneer was good. :)
Beth - that's quite a Big Move. Good luck with packing.
kb - I'm still chuckling over the idea that retirement is a stipend that let's you do what you've always wished you had a sabbatical to do. great attitude.
Project #1 thrown to the wolves. That gives me two days to complete Project #2.
Kelly, I could probably stuff two, maybe three, cupcakes in my full-face helmet. I'd have to keep the visor closed because I don't like bugs with my icing. And now… I need to jump on the bike & head home. Maybe I can find a cupcake to celebrate with at the house. Better than the ones they have in the vending machines, surely…
Nancy, I sent my Marlo a link to the post and you absolutely made her day. She sends you many thanks.
So Jen ... are you packed yet? ;)
Mary, it's nice to know I can do something good for someone. I'm feeling quite altruistic. :)
Hi Beth, Far, and Kelly.
Hi again to kb and b2.
:-( No cupcake palaces here. Andif, how long do ya figure b4 she franchises? (wiggling eyebrows)
wow, y'all had a busy day here.
Jen, I'm surprised one of the kitties isn't named starbuck - lol. Have a wunderbar vaca!
Happy moving, Beth.
Whatever happened to the anonymous poet who created poems re: the days adventures here. I miss him/her.
The anony. poet is here now and then, Anony, but he's not anony anymore.
:)
Andi, I'm so glad it made Marlo happy. She is doing the world a favor.
Maryb, hee hee!! Um, I think there's a bit of icing still on your lip. ::runs and hides::
Far and Kelly, your motorcycle/cupcake discussion is hilarious. :)
Actually, "Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life" isn't a bad name for a cupcake shop.
You stay offline for a few days and the place explodes!! ::g::
Hi, bye, running through on my way through RL. Busy weekend, then 2 days of miserable illness (mostly girl stuff) and then an extremely busy work day topped off with stuff to do once I got home.
::waves at everyone::
And for those of us who are a little s-l-o-w, the poet is ...
I just went over for a quickie with Atrios and discovered that someone stole all the liquor.
boran2 ....
A quickie with Atrios! Those were the days. . .hee.
Atrios! O!! I forgot all about him....
(Now I'm devoted to cupcakes)
Ah, Anonymous, I do not know if our poet wishes for his identity to be revealed to those who did not witness the accident. He might like to keep you guessing. . .
I must leave it to the poet to decide. Watch for the poet's next work, and see if he signs it! Or uses your name. ;)
::waving back at running Maria!::
I totally get the wanting to be anonymous thing! lol
I just thought you meant he wasn't anonymous anymore & I missed that entry. I know he used to sign his posts cormac mccarthy, but I thought that was just an alias like "starbuck" or "angelina". ??
I'll look forward to reading more of his poetry when he reemerges.
:-D
