ah hah, olivia has dozed off. I'll just tiptoe over, sneak that yummy scone right off her plate, and scoot on out, leaving everyone with the mystery of the missing munchy ...
I think I'll have some coffee, but this place does need to start putting a few recliners around. Some of us get our best ideas just before we doze off. :)
What a fun day it was on dream-house blog, Nancy! Thank you.
My dream house is an old hotel. The rooms have wood-louvered outer doors, high ceilings, ceiling fans.
There are mahogany paneled ballrooms, card rooms, a long covered veranda on street level, with little tables where you can sit all day and watch the promenade. Drinks served and croissants.
The best part though is that this hotel is built on a steep hillside. 2nd, 3rd, 4th floors all have ground-level access on the rising backside.
The back of the hotel is terraced gardens, secret gardens with pavilions, an old croquet course, garden swings, koi ponds, and an incredible tucked-way greenhouse full of slip-decorated clay pots from the 1920s.
Family Man, I'm talking to the manager today about those lounge chairs. But Olivia didn't have any trouble dozing off without one. :)
Ghost, some friends and I have long joked about the Old Writers Home where we'll live one day, where everything is served to us and all we have to do is write and rock. We're moving into your hotel/house.
This looks like a much better place to be than the office at the moment. The not-work is acting up and that's never a good sign.
Coffee, please. And an English muffin with butter & blackberry jam.
I'm seriously considering signing up for a couple of services at jott.com and iwantsandy.com. The two easily combine so you can manage your day from a phone — seeing as I spend two hours a day in a car, it might be worth paying for them when they start charging. Right now, they're free.
Gotta run back to the office for a few so I can work my chicken soup & schedule vacation for next month. I'll be back in a bit.
Jott & Sandy may be best described by example. You can call Jott and say "Sandy, remind me to pick up dinner at 6pm," and Jott will convert your speech to text & send email to Sandy. Sandy can then text-message your phone at 6. If I think of something I need to do at work while stuck in traffic, I can use Jott to send an email to my work address. (I could call my work number too, but it's easier to copy text into a to-do list. :-P )
Far, let's invent little bitty robots to sit on our shoulders and do all that for us by whispering in our ear. We'd know they wanted our attention when they cleared their throats.
"Ahem."
We'd bend our head toward them, and they'd whisper, "Pick up dinner at 6."
"Thank you," we'd say.
"You're welcome," they'd say. "And slow down. There's a cop up ahead behind that tree."
Just a touch and go today. I got myself onto the membership committee for a writers organization somehow and that's going to eat up a lot of my not-writing time for a week or two. Sigh. Have a great day everyone.
I just saw an adorable movie, "Enchanted," with Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, and Susan Sarandon. There's one house cleaning scene that makes the whole movie worth seeing, but my friend and I thought the whole thing was charming.
Nancy, Roman directed Carrie Underwood's video singing one of the songs from the movie. He got to work with the folks from Disney, and said it was a dream come true. And of course it's great, because everything that Roman does is.
If you want to watch it, Roman's website is http://www.romanwhite.com/.
He is amazing. Not to mention funny, kind, goofy, brilliant, and generous. He helped me plot my next book (not the one I'm working on now) during a half-hour chat, and I'm really excited about it. He also conducts the night owl brainstorming sessions at WRW, and it's amazing to sit back and watch his brain work. I just love him!
Disney… oh yeah. Daughter Dearest's choir is doing a program in April called "Disney Sings." They'll actually go backstage and learn (and perform) some music that will be included in a future movie. They get a copy of the movie for their trouble (cheaper than paying real money, right? Disney all the way). :-D

Whatcha want to talk about?
Hey, I've got a seat at the table for a change ... usually have to wait by the door it's so busy ... ;-)

Morning Nancy, Olivia and Andi.

Olivia! Wake up and slap Andi's hand!

What are those services, far?
Here's your muffin--a Thomas, of course. Unless you have another brand preference?
Thomas is fine, thanks.

Or one of Kelly's webgoblins?
I think it was William Gibson who said, "the future is here, it's just not evenly distributed."
(wishing I had an english muffin OR a scone)
I like the robot (webgoblin) on the shoulder concept. I always said I needed a housewife, or a secretary. Now I just need a memory...
Sign me up for that hotel!
Nice peaceful morning in our little corner of the world...except for the hand-slapping...
Morning, Beth. I'm seriously doubting that Olivia would ever actually slap anybody's hands. Although, when it comes to scones. . .
I'm making myself hungry.
My mother used to say that my sister and I slapped our own hands when we reached for something that we knew we shouldn't...
Morning Nancy and all,
And of course that hotel is haunted, right? With fascinating characters who can give us all kinds of great story ideas.
Now, I just need a warm, hand-made throw to curl up with on a recliner.
Beth, a memory is on my wish list too. But then, I can't remember where I put the list.
Beth and Cathy, lol!
You and your sister must have been extremely well-trained little girls, Beth!
Cathy, it just has to be haunted since it belongs to Ghost.
Scones...yum.
Morning all.
Just a touch and go today. I got myself onto the membership committee for a writers organization somehow and that's going to eat up a lot of my not-writing time for a week or two. Sigh. Have a great day everyone.
Raised your hand at the wrong time, did you, Kelly? :) Well, they're lucky to have you.
I heard that there's a cover charge here, and a 2 drink minimum. Is that really true?
Yes, but you should see the size of the drinks!
Cool, I'll start with a zombie.
(bartender frantically thumbs through recipe books, hoping boran doesn't mean the walking-dead kind)
lol!

Glad you enjoyed it - I'll put it on my list!
Beth, today I followed your website link to Roman's site, and was I ever impressed. He is one talented dude.
