Sunday Bulletin Board

(Be sure to scroll down for the Saturday Night Photo by Andif.)

Whooo, What, When, or Where?

I'm experimenting with posting a Bulletin Board every Sunday, open to anybody who wants to share something, or announce something, or just hang out. What are you reading, watching, talking about? What's new with the job, the family, your favorite tv show? (I'm so glad Hok didn't get eliminated on "So You Think You Can Dance"!) Put in a plug for your favorite blogs, including your own. Post a link to a vacation photo. You can even write an ad to sell your lawn mower, though I think the shipping would be murder.

Photo: Knucklehead--who rescues hummingbirds-- inspired me to post a photo of these baby owls who were rescued last year by an east coast bird refuge that is run by one of my (book) readers.

My news would make me preen and twirl except that these things more often come to nothing than something. How's that for a postivie attitude? :) But really, it's tough out there in movieland. Anyway, my latest book is "in development" with a cable network. Last week I found out they like the script so far (I don't have anything to do with that), and the producer is renewing my option, so that's all great news. The hard part is they only do a dozen or fewer tv movies a year and I'm competing with big best sellers. Keep your fingers crossed for Abby, Mitch, and Rex!! (My three main characters.)

That's fabulous and I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed. Good luck!

The lion's share of first reader comments are now in, and they're all of the this is solid/fun/cool, could you add a bit here, or explain that over there a little more +line edits. So, something like three days work--whew.

I was a little bit worried about this one as I drafted it in half the time of previous works of this length (5 months) and I didn't have time to let it marinate. The drafting time is by way of an experiment, I'm slowly ramping up to see if I can't get to 3 books a year.

Now it's off to put out family health mess fires. Sigh. Have a great day everyone.

Kelly, what a relief about your first readers' reactions!! I think that's a wonderful feeling, when your "readers" tell you they basically love it, and you only need small tweaks, all of which you agree with. It's kind of fun and exciting then to make those changes, which often really do bring the book to greater life. Or so it seems to me sometimes. I wish my current book needed only small tweaks, sigh.

Good luck with the family health messes. May they need only small tweaks, too.

I have to go lie down now.

I'm off to see Harry Potter! I'll be back with no spoilers. :)

Ooh, it's good fun, though I'm not sure how much sense it would make to someone who hadn't read the book.

On the book front, yeah, I don't know if 3 is doable. It should be based on actual writing time into a book for me, but I don't know how much of the down time amidst and between books is something I need vs. something that's just occurred for lack of ambition. It'll be fun to find out.

I loved the Harry Potter movie. First one of the movies I've really liked that much, though I love the books. Crowded theater, for an 11:30 a.m. showing.

Cuties they are.

I'd love to sell my lawn mower, then I wouldn't have to cut the lawn.

Seriously, this is a great idea.

I can't wait for the new HP book.

Hi, b2,
I heard a rumor that katiebird/Catherine cut her lawn today in 90 plus heat. Maybe she'll do yours if you can promise her lower temps. :)

They really are such cuties.
