High tech rescue

Behold the mighty paperclip!! It saved the blog!! We lost internet connection last night. When I called my beloved Time-Warner a few minutes ago, their kindly representative said, "Do you have a paperclip?"
"I do," I said.
"Are you near the modem?"
"I am," I said.
"Okay, do you see the tiny hole in the back of it?"
"Uh huh."
"Stick the end of the paperclip in the hole for 4 seconds."
Holding my breath in suspense, I somehow managed to pull off that challenging maneuver.
It worked! Voila! And good morning from high tech central.

I'll be darned, as they say on Sunday. So that's how to reset a modem.

Excellent technical manuever.

Ate fudge for breakfast. No donuts in sight. Don't tell KB.

Spring must be here. We are averaging 15 degrees above normal so far this month and daffidils are bursting forth everywhere.

I need more sleep.

Y'all have a great day.

We have to reset our wireless station every now and then. It's not hard to do (unplug, count to twenty, plug in again), but it seems to primitive given that we're in the 21st Century.

Morning Nancy.

I guess I'm going to have to call someone to help out on my computer. It keeps coming in and out on me. I wish there was a reset button on the back of computers. :)

Morning all.

Too bad, Nancy, we all can't be rebooted so easily. [Remark about inserting things into holes rejected out of respect for those who go to church on Sunday]

Andi, snort!

FM, it sounds as if some wire isn't totally plugged in, though I'd bet my Holy Paperclip that you've checked them a dozen times already.

Daffodils, Rick?! I long for them.
Okay, maybe not long. But it would be nice. . .

That's how I reset my wireless station, too, Paul. And, yeah, these simple solutions do seem primmitive.

The bride uses a very similar method on me, Nancy. When I've "gone to Mars."

Always brings me right back home. Oh my stars.

Glad you figured it out, Nancy. Too funny how our high-tech world still relies on low-tech stuff...like humans! :-) Good luck with yours, fam - and I hope your flu is a short-lived one.

Just wandered through an art and craft show with artists from all over the country - boy, could I have filled my car with some beautiful stuff - including 10' giraffes and $6500 glass scupltures...

Hope all are having a good Sunday!

Afternoon all.

On today's walk, I got a gift from the really sharp temperature drop last night (it went from 44 to the mid 20s in a couple of hours):

Technology--I'm just fortunate my s.o. is a techie--I turn into a whining 2-year-old: "Fixie, fixie!"

Andi, that's really cool!

Very cool animal tracks Andi!

Yep, the paper clip. Also known as the technician's all-purpose debugging tool.

Nice pic, Andi!

We've got a few daffs starting to spring up, and Mrs. Fetched was pointing out the tulips sprouting yesterday. I saw the day lilies starting to sprout today.

FM, I hope you get your computer fixed. Did the Ubuntu thing not work out?

GF… um, y'know, I really can't add much to that! :-)

hey, the Grammy's are on tonight. This is usually a night when people I don't know get up and win awards. Although I have to say I sometimes discover people I like. I had never heard of Beyonce until she performed with Prince at the Grammies and I fell in love with her voice. Last year it was Mary J. Blige - I had never heard of her and now I own two of her albums.. This year it might be Alicia Keyes - I don't think I own anything by her.

Nancy, My car has this clanking sound, if you wouldn't mind stopping by for a few minutes. ;-)

Nancy P said...

Boran2, lol! I'll fix your car, then I'll drive it over to your blog to see what you were up to with your painting yesterday.

Hey, everybody I missed earlier--ghst, mary, far, conda, beth, kelly.

Andi, thank you for my morning blog photo. :)

I wasted a day doing not much else but hitting Refresh to check on the election returns in Maine. Must go cold turkey! Maybe Tuesday. No, Thursday. Next week, at the very latest.

If anyone besides mary is watching the Grammys, holy cow. Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli just sang "The Prayer," and had me in tears. Maybe they'll do more together at some point...wow. I can't imagine it won't be on YouTube by tomorrow...well worth a viewing!

With that, I'm off to bed. Night all.

If anyone besides mary is watching the Grammys...

I'm glad that comment wasn't directed at me lol!

Cuz I really don't like either Josh Groban or Andrea Boccelli - cheap imitations of real opera singers if you ask me. A video tribute to Beverly Sills and Pavarotti would have been so much better - real voices.

But that's why there are lots of music categories - something for everyone.

Nancy P said...

I like them, Beth. AND I like opera, Mary. No accounting for taste, eh?

What I couldn't take all of was the Grammy's though. I was even disappointed in Cirque de Soliel, and I didn't think that was possible!

So I watched Brothers and Sisters for my favorite dose of liberal Dem melodrama.

Nancy P said...

Beth, was Roman up for anything at the Grammys?

Nancy P said...

Oh, my. Remember Roy Scheider from "Jaws"? He has died. He was 75!!!

maryb said...

You aren't alone obviously.

The most annoying thing is that people who know I love opera keep giving me their CD's as gifts for birthdays etc. At this point I just smile, say thank you and then give them to true fans later.

Nancy P said...

In that case, remember Beth and me. :D

I have a huge gap in my pop culture ranking. . .I've never heard Amy Winehouse.

I thought Roman might be up for something, but couldn't find his name in the nominations. He has a bunch in the Country Music awards coming up - he's doing so many videos now. Just finished Alan Jackson's latest - did Reba and Kelly Clarkson's, all of Carrie Underwood's - I can't keep up with him. Hopefully he'll win something at those awards!
