Weekend hangout

I have a feeling it's going to be pretty quiet this weekend, so I'll leave this coffee shop open for both Saturday and Sunday. If we turn talkative, I'll open the annex. :)

Morning Nancy.

Well sort of morning, we've still got 15 minutes to go. You can tell when I stay up late because I'm usually early here. :)

Hope everyone has a great w/e.

Morning All. (FM, I sure hope you're napping now.)

Well, I used my cell phone to take pictures from the plane. I don't understand how anybody gets anything usable from a cell phone camera. They all were awful.

This one over Utah was the very best (that is, least awful). Not that you can tell what anything is -- but I thought the patterns the landforms made were kind of pretty.

Morning, andi - since the rest of them are probably still in bed, being such night owls. Fam, you're back in bed, aren't you??

That's a fine picture - makes me long for the mountains. Some gorgeous country out there.

I'm off to spend the day with a friend from home who's in St Pete for a conference. We'll laugh too much and talk too much, and I'll be home late and happy.

Have a great Saturday, everyone!

G'morning, earlybirds!

Andi - nifty plane pic.

Beth - have a great time with your friend.

I'm spending the weekend at home, writing and relaxing. I've got an "Inside the Actor's Studio" (Johnny Depp) to watch and some teevee to catch up on.

Cheers, all!

Hi Beth (bye Beth) and Maria.

Hmm, Giddy keeps coming over and impatiently poking me in the side. I think I must be about 4 days late for our walk.

So into the woods for me. Have a good day all.

Hey all!

Andi, not a bad pic. The trick to getting a decent shot from a smellphone camera is light. Lots and lots of light. I don't know exactly, but figure that lens is fixed at f5.6 or even f8. There are some ways to control the exposure, but cellphone controls are traditionally so crappy that it's easier to just run the defaults. If you don't have lots of light, you need to brace the phone on something to minimize camera shake.

I got a decent shot of some geese on my afternoon walk earlier this week. They've settled in there, I think, because they were swimming around yesterday.

w00t, I think the coffee's about ready! Rick & I might grab some chainsaws a little later and do that leaning tree out back there…

Oh hey, look what someone left in the VCR!

I've got a FAR Future post waiting for a final coat of paint, with any luck I'll get it posted this evening.

good morning all. Thanks for the coffeeshop N. I need extra coffee this morning.

Welcome home Andi! Get back in bed and get better FM! Maria - Johnny Depp ... yeah. Have a great time with your friend Beth. kb - waving!

FaR thanks for providing that link. I actually had never seen D & C. I was born in 1960 and we had fire drills all the time and sometimes tornado drills but we never had bomb drills. Thank god. But now I know what I was missing.

Hi all,

Andi, I agree with farfetched, that's a good photo. And I've had pretty good luck with my cell taking photos, in strong light, as farfetched said.

Duck and cover made me howl. I got to do that, only the desks were from the twenties, WITH INK WELLS, and wrought iron, tiny and all connected together (don't have time to search for an example on the web). It was almost impossible to crawl under, even as a six-year-old.

Hi (waving) -- I JUST got up, so I haven't had coffee. But I'm here & lurking. And:

I'll be back.

Hi all,

Tried to go to a speech by Obama today, but only arrived two hours early, which turned out to be about an hour late. Ended up going x-country skiing instead.

Kelly, how much snow do you have on the ground these days?

Kelly McCullough said...

Probably about fifteen inches in most of the flat places and two feet where there's a little bit of drifting.

Wow. *that* day got pretty well used up. After the chicken houses & showers, we rolled out to get Daughter Dearest a prom dress. She needed an alteration, so they sent us to a shop about two blocks away… and at least I got a haiku out of it.

Seeing as the dress shop was like 50 miles away, it was about 5:30 when we got back. I used the remaining light to cut up a large fallen limb and transplant some wild chives into a bed. A few leftovers for supper, and here I am.

Hi all.

Ugh, today was one of the worst days of recent memory. It'll make an interesting FM-style post I suppose.

Good morning, everyone, & happy Sunday!

Just wanted to pop in to wave. Andi, love the Utah picture. Beth, hope your visit went well.

I'm not spending my weekend like Kelly. (No snow in Houston.) I am spending my weekend like Maria...writing and watching DVDs. Just watched Hamish MacBeth Season 3. They are based on M.C. Beaton's cozy mysteries and are fun to watch.

Warm wishes to all as I head back to the laptop to work.

Hi to everybody who showed up after I left yesterday.

Contented sigh. Today's my favorite kind of Sunday, one followed by a no-work Monday.

Morning, all. Had a great visit with my friend, and now have to buckle down and get some work done today. I'm leaving FL in less than 6 weeks, and starting to panic about getting everything done I had planned. Where does the time go??

Glad some of you don't have to go to work tomorrow! Happy Sunday -

Nancy P said...

B2, bummer! I hope today is MUCH better.

Hi, guys. I'm in and out fast. Snowing here. No complaint from me this time. It's really pretty.

Morning, all!

Kimberly - I adore Robert Carlyle. Now I'm in the mood for those DVDs, too. :)

boran2 - sorry to hear you had a no-good horrible day. :(

It's a miserable grey day out today. Good thing I'm staying in.

Sadly, I don't have tomorrow off, but oh, well.

Cheers, all!

It's SNOWING like crazy -- it's beautiful!!

Good Morning!!

Enjoy the snow, ladies! I'm picturing thick flakes slowly covering the landscape - a beautiful winter wonderland that you can sit inside and enjoy, without having to shovel or drive in it.

Snow showers are headed our way from you lovely people in the west - but no accumulation. They say. But you know how "they" are.

Good morning to all. Hope you have a rewarding day doing whatever rewards you.
