Let's talk about the pleasures and puzzles of the smaller mystery--mystery novels and other fiction--and the bigger one--life.

Happy birthday to the bird!
A little bird told me (You knew I'd have to work that in somehow) that today is our favorite Katiebird's birthday! Many many happy returns of the day, kb!
KB! (please excuse my poor singing voice) So, today is your birthday, that is what I've been told. What a wonderful birthday, you are one more year old. On a cake you'll have candles all lighted for you. And the world will be singing, Happy Birthday to YOU! And many mmooorreee.
Cake and champagne - sounds like a great dinner to me.
Coffee with my cake please. Then I'll pull one of those brews, Nancy.
KB, your Texas birdie friends are feasting in my backyard. They heard about the celebration and wanted to join in. The redheaded woodpecker, two doves and a squirrel followed the blue jay. You are well thought of in this clan.
:) Lisa -- that sounds good to me too! And the birds are out in force up here. Watching them flit through the trees was one of the best things about our walk this afternoon.
Happiest Hippo Birdie, KB!!! Sending virtual hugs to my favorite bird. On my way out the door for steamed clams and a cocktail - but cake and champagne sound a LOT better!
Hope you're having the most wonderfulest day possible!!
{{Beth}} Thank you and your evening sounds like a lot more fun than me. I'm just sitting here listening to some country guy yelling at the weatherman (Gary Lezak) about the weather, "It's out there Gary -- it's OUT There" I think he means a tornado but I'm not sure (and so is Gary).
(it's out by the Kansas Speedway which is pretty far away from Nancy and me)
These weather reporters... They take over the TV and don't let it go for ANYTHING.
Mr. & Mrs. Cardinal have joined the festivities. Looks like we have a good group in your honor KB. TV coverage of weather drives me crazy. They put some map over a quarter of the screen and they HYPE it up. So here's wishing the winds blow the other way and all you gals/guys stay safe.
Well, it looks like something DID touch down up in the northern part of the city. So it's pretty horrible. But, do they really have to dominate every single television station for the entire evening?
Most of the city is unaffected by this.
That sounds incredibly insensitive, but really they're mostly repeating the same thing over and over again.
It's what they do, KB - fill the time with the same info, presented a different way. If you don't have news, make it up! Hopefully no one was hurt - tornadoes are very scary. At least with hurricanes you have plenty of warning, and can escape. Hope they're done for the night, and the weather people can find something else to talk about!

Okay, so that cake says, "Robbie."
Pretend it says Cathy, okay?
Honestly, some people are so picky.
Hugs Robbie-Cathy.
Happy Birthday, KatieB!! Hope you have a fabulous day.
