Not too terrible here… there's a possibility of record highs later this week. But rainy all week, so it's not like I'll be out motorcycling for the fun of it.

But I'll go throw another log on the fire, just because 49F is still a bit cool to wake up to…

23 with a wind chill of 14 here in Dallas.
Thanks for the extra log, Nancy.
Ice on my car had to be defrosted before I could come home last night. But don't think enough precip to close school. Hope not. Hate making those days up when it's pretty in the spring.

Early to work. I have a fasting bloodwork appointment with the doc. this a m, so have to get things ready for the kids so my aide can wrangle them while I'm gone. 12 new students on the secondary side today. 6 in my 9th grade room alone. Poor decisions abound. Job security for me.
Thanks guys for the great responses yesterday. Now I have a great list of page turning possibilities to dissect and enjoy.

Terrific Tuesday to All.

Cold here too -- 16 now, heading to a high of 28, with a forecast that calls for snow, sleet, freezing rain, and then more sleet. Sounds lovely. I can hardly wait.

Morning all.

Oh and given that forecast (which I think has already visited Kansas) I thought I ought to post my favorite "Damn it's cold" picture of the year (so far) in its "honor". So .....

Damn, it's cold [LINK]

Morning, all! Still unseasonably warm here, although the temps did drop 25 degrees (instead of 69, it's 44).

Forecast calls for more of the same and then warmer again, accompanied by rain. I guess I should be grateful, because warmer = no snow...and snow in the DC area = stooopid people driving.

Off to the mimes I go and then tonight, my book launch for Blood Bargain! Yippee!

Big congrats, Maria!

Morning, Far, Lisa, Andi (love that photo)!

Maria. . .can you give us the details about your book launch? I'd like to put the book cover on this front page tomorrow, along with any where, when, etc., info if there's a party/signing and the public is invited. Or whatever you want to say. Which you've probably already told us, but pretty plz tell me again, thanx.

Hi, all. Not cold here yet - it is supposed to be on its way.

Maria, good luck with the book launch. It is a great book!

Maria - good luck with the book launch, ENJOY!

I woke up to a dusting of snow that wasn't predicted. That of course made everyone drive stupidly on top of which most of the people on my commute didn't know where they were going because they shut down a major interstate yesterday and everyone is diverted for an entire year while they rebuild it. It took me twice as long as usual to get to work.

Thanks, all!

Nancy, the signing is tonight.

Here's the scoop.

My wonderful boss is throwing the launch party at our offices. It's definitely open to public. I posted on Facebook, LiveJournal and (as the link above shows) we posted on our company site. :)

Nancy, I'm sorry I missed your question yesterday. I guess It would make me happy to be retired except that I had to go to the hospital 3 times yesterday (first visit at 6AM to be there for the first Doc Visit) and to the dry cleaner for my dad.

So, I haven't quite gotten the full benefit yet.... :)

Hospital for your mom, kb? I sure hope she's doing as well as possible.

Maria, what a lovely thing for your boss to do! She must love you. I'll get something up here soonish.

Morning all,

-4 with windchill of -20, woot? At least I'm inside. I'm feeling a bit better today, hoping I'm up to actually thinking.

Maria, Congratulations! Fwiw, mass market fantasy sales are up from this time last year. Hardcover's down, as a are number of other categories, but mmpb and particularly mmpb urban and contemporary fantasy are up.

Yowza, Dallas is as cold as Boise! But Boise is close to the Rockies and supposed to be cold this time of year. Doesn't keep us from complaining however.

Brrr, andi! That picture just makes me cold all over. I'm at O'Hare, waiting for my next flight. Nine degrees outside - left 70's in FL. My sis says it's a balmy 39 in NH - but snow is forecast. Remind me why people don't go to Florida for Christmas??

Congrats and have fun, Maria! Keep healing, Kelly. Stay warm, everyone else. Wishing I was snuggled by that fire, Nancy - or on a warm beach - instead of in an airport. Four screaming kids next to me on the last flight - thank goodness for iPods!

Waving from mid-trip....
